National Palliative Care Week 2025 will be held from May 11 to 17.

This week is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of palliative care services and encouraging conversations about end-of-life care planning.

This year's theme is "What's your plan?" encouraging individuals to consider and plan for their end-of-life care.

Palliative care can provide support for individuals facing serious illnesses, their families, and caregivers. It focuses on managing symptoms and pain, as well as the emotional, social, and spiritual needs of those involved. National Palliative Care Week aims to educate Australians about palliative care, highlighting its role in improving quality of life towards the end of life, and promoting open discussions about death and dying, just like an End of Life Doula does.

An End of Life Doula provides non-medical support to individuals and their families as they navigate the end-of-life process. They offer practical, emotional, and spiritual guidance, ensuring the person's wishes are respected and their journey is as peaceful and meaningful as possible.

This support can encompass a range of services, including helping with advance care planning, facilitating open communication, and assisting with practical matters like funeral arrangements.

You don’t need to wait until May 11 to start a conversation with an End of Life Doula. Call me, Lauren Newman, on 0493 276 554 or email: lauren@treeoflifeservices.com.au for information and supportive ideas for your end of life planning.
